Suffolk County Legislator Tom Muratore (R- Ronkonkoma) recently toured The Community Programs Center of Long Island's Ronkonkoma center. The facility is comprised of three program areas: Day Haven Adult Day Services, the Early Discoveries Center, and the Children’s Community Head Start.
Combined, the three on-site programs provide care for the youngest and oldest members of the community. Childcare is provided for infants as young as six weeks old at the Early Discoveries Center. The Children’s Community Head Start provides a comprehensive pre-school education program. Lastly, Day Haven addresses the needs of the senior population by providing social adult day care services, as well as caregiver support groups.
“I was very impressed with the structure and level of services the Community Programs Center provides,” stated Legislator Muratore. “We must continue to care for the leaders of the past, as well as prepare the newest generation for the tasks that lie ahead. The Center is doing a remarkable job on both ends of the spectrum, and I am grateful that such programs are available to address the needs of my constituents.”
